5 Things - Week 8
Interesting analogs from our trip to the BIG CITY
Dreamland Sirens
It’s no secret that I love art. And I ESPECIALLY love kooky, wacky, shiny art. And this installation by Charlotte Colbert was especially fun to see on our walks to and from the hotel. The giant eyeball is located at the Flatiron South Plaza, and while EYE have no EYEdea what it means, EYE think it’s definitely worth taking a LOOK at.

Louis Vuitton Trunks
I FINALLY got to see the Louis Vuitton trunks on 57th street at the location of the future flagship LV store. The installation is actually a brilliant cover for the scaffolding surrounding the building during renovation, which started in October 2024. It really is hard to believe this is real until you see it for yourself. The detail on the hardware is actually incredible. A rough estimate of the value of these Louis Vuitton trunks, if they were real, is approximately $50 billion (based solely on my very minimal knowledge of LV). Definitely worth stopping by!

Speaking of incredible design…
Get a load of these ENORMOUS urinals in the PJ Clarke’s bathroom. It’s hard to describe just how big these were. They were the size of bathtubs and looked like the ornate molding on the side of skyscrapers. For a second I thought to myself “I wonder if I could fit my entire body inside one of these,” but luckily I stopped myself from trying.
I honestly don’t even know how I feel about them, but I took a photo because I thought you should see.Yes, we spent $48 on butter.
I recently saw a reel on Instagram during a 3am scroll that stopped me in my tracks. The creator featured the ‘butter service’ at Quality Bistro in New York City, and it was a spectacle like I’d never seen before. Given that we were just a few days away from a trip to the city, I booked it immediately, and friends, I’m so glad I did. Barrett’s video does it more justice than I ever could, but just know it WAS worth it. I was admittedly worried that the butter service was just a gimmick and a spectacle and that the rest of the meal would be lacking, but friends, I had a magnificent steak frites (and they did provide a portion of gluten free bread and butter just for me) and it was all 10/10 Gay Guy Approved.

GIVE US MOM!!!
One of my favorite things about NYC is that it’s absolutely filled to the brim with art and interesting things to see, even if I don’t understand it all. I took so many photos, and I could’ve taken 10,000 more. It was so nice to spend most of the week completely off of social media and just enjoying everything that was in front of me. Including that dog wearing thigh-high boots on all four legs. New York has everything!

Thank you for supporting and reading the Rucker Report! If you. made it this far, you’ve successfully diverted 5-10 minutes of your time from being monetized by Mark Zuckerberg! Yay!

Something about floor length urinals that just seems classy to me. That and urinal ice. I've never seen a men's room with both, but I probably couldn't afford to go in a place that high-end.
