THE BLAHBS
Comics Section Debuts on the Rucker Report
Growing up, Sunday was one of the best days because I got to rifle through our copy of the Dallas Morning News to find the only important section: The Sunday Comics.
My favorites tended to be the classics: Peanuts, Garfield, and Ziggy. I grew up loving Pearls Before Swine, and for a while they would even run ‘Magic Eye’ pictures in the comics section, even though those weren’t comics at all.
(Sidenote: I GOT BIG into Magic Eye. Why was that such a thing??? I remember cutting them all out and LAMINATING them to save in a 3-ring binder. Times were wild before the internet.)
While cleaning my office this week, I came across a notebook of single-panel watercolor and pen doodles I did daily during the pandemic. And, I thought the Rucker Report could really use its own comics section so beginning today, I’ll be sharing new Adam Rucker Original ‘funnies’ regularly.
The first tranche of my new series, The BLAHBS is below. Each card is a blob character saying whatever is on their mind (hence BLAHBS). I hope you enjoy getting to meet my BLAHBS.
Like me, they have a LOT to say…
